Hinterland Aero Engineering offers a comprehensive range of aircraft maintenance, engine repairs and overhauls, avionics installations and component maintenance to the aviation industry.

Our hangar and workshop complex located at Cairns Airport is fully equipped for scheduled maintenance, major overhaul, repair and modifications of pressurised, non-pressurised, turboprop and piston engine aircraft.

The company meets the Quality Assurance requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CofA C512102), the PNG Civil Aviation Authority (MOC 145/033) and is
AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 accredited.

By holding such an extensive capabilities list we’re able to perform the majority of maintenance functions internally, including life rafts and jackets, which keeps the standard of maintenance within our control ensuring a known quality product.



1. Maintenance of the following aircraft components:

(d)            Mechanical flight control system components,

(e)           Mechanical landing gear system components,

(f)              Hydraulic components,

(g)            The following Emergency equipment:

(i)    Life jackets,

(ii)   Life rafts,

(h)            Preparation and Application of protective coatings using the following methods:

(i)    Painting,

(i)              Maintenance of aircraft components using the following methods:

(i)    Machining,

(j)              Welding using the following weld types:

(i)    Type 1 – gas welding,

(ii)   Type 2 – braze welding,

(iii) Type 3 – manual arc welding,

(iv)  Type 4 – gas tungsten arc welding,

(v)   Type 5 – gas metal arc welding,

(vi)  Type 6 – plasma arc welding.

(k)            Non destructive testing using the following methods:

(i)    Liquid Penetrant,

(ii)   Fluorescent Magnetic particle,

(l)              The following maintenance on Pratt& Whitney series engines:

(i)    Hot Section Inspection

(m)          Horizontally opposed, naturally aspirated piston engines with a maximum horsepower rating not exceeding 500 kw (670 Hp) and those accessories necessary for the operation of the engine.

(n)            The following accessories fitted to engines with a maximum horsepower rating not exceeding 500 Kw (670 Hp)

(i)    Float Type Carburettors.

(o)            The following Electrical components:

(i)    Lead acid batteries,

(ii)   Magnetos, ignition leads, harnesses and ignition units,

(iii) Alternators and generators,

(iv) Starter Motors
