Our History
Hinterland Aviation is owned by Trailfinders, the UK and Australian Travel Experts. Established in 1981 as a charter operator mainly servicing the mining industry, Hinterland was bought by Trailfinders in 1992 in order to provide air transfers to the Bloomfield Lodge (also owned by Trailfinders). We have developed the charter business considerably since then and now operate general charter all around the country and to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
Our Clients
Our regular institutional clients include several different government departments (including Queensland Health) together with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and BHP Billiton. We have a diverse range of clientele and in addition to charter services we are authorised to conduct aerial work such as aerial photography, aerial spotting and powerline inspections.
With our ownership and background in the travel and tourism industry we have a wealth of experience in this sector. In February 2006 Hinterland Aviation commenced servicing its long term charter contract with Voyages Hotels and Resorts to Lizard and Dunk Islands. As well as servicing the Bloomfield Lodge, Hinterland Aviation also operates regular charter services for the live-aboard dive vessel "Spirit of Freedom" as well as for Mike Ball Dive Expeditions.

All our assets (Aircraft, tooling, hangar and terminal) are fully owned by the company with no encumbrances. We have the resources to expand the fleet as required and would certainly purchase additional aircraft if, for example, we found it necessary in order to fulfil a contract.

Hinterland Aviation holds Air Operator's Certificate 225472-31. We also hold insurance in accordance with Government Regulations in respect of our aircraft.
